Healing Our Hearts

We can’t show up as our best selves when our hearts are broken. We often shut down and resist close relationships or new experiences in fear of being disappointed and hurt again. We sometimes find ourselves so busy looking in the rear view mirror that we miss everything in front of us, crashing or becoming immobilized.

Here are 3 things you can do to start healing your heart:

  1. Accept the emotions you feel and end the power struggle of resisting them or judging them as good or bad. Just be ok with how you feel.

  2. Take a daily ‘gut-check’. Ask: How do I feel today about what happened? How is it showing up now? How am I responding? This process brings you into the present moment with an understanding of how you are feeling and responding. It begins to eliminate the numbness that keeps us stuck, immobilized and powerless.

  3. While we can’t control everything that happens to us, we can choose how we respond. In taking ownership of our responses, we begin to take back our power. This is how we free our hearts.
